Planning and execution of works for the redoing and consolidation of sections of the Belbo railway tunnel between km 32+889 and 37+273 of the Savona – Carmagnola line (Cuneo)

MAIN WORKS:

Works concerned the restoration and consolidation of the tunnel with regards to the clearance of very thin silts, following accurate geognostic surveys. In detail, it was necessary to completely remove the ballast and the railway platform, laying a drainage network and the restoration of the foundation and the arch of the tunnel.

At the same time, a very thick kerb was created to connect and stiffen the lower base of the arch and while unburdening the rock matrix. The connection of the kerb with the latter was made by means of micropiles and subvertical structures.

Lastly, a reinforced concrete footing was created, creating an invert arch, which was not present before.

Planning and execution of works for the redoing and consolidation of sections of the Belbo railway tunnel between km 32+889 and 37+273 of the Savona – Carmagnola line (Cuneo)

MAIN WORKS:

Works concerned the restoration and consolidation of the tunnel with regards to the clearance of very thin silts, following accurate geognostic surveys.
